In the evolving field of dysphagia, opinions regarding best practice vary wildly. How is a clinician to know the truth? This course aims to take a close look at some of the urban legends surrounding dysphagia and the evidence that can lead clinicians astray…or back on the path to evidence based practice. Participants in this course will obtain:
- Exposure to evaluating the research base for current dysphagia practices
- Exposure to urban legends in dysphagia practice as well as linking the evidence base that either supports or refutes the trends
- Identification of additional resources for continuing education opportunities in the area of dysphagia
- Exposure to ethical considerations in dysphagia management for patients in palliative or hospice care.

She has over 25 years of experience with dysphagia and the use of the Modified Barium Swallow study in a variety of settings as well as teaching experience at the graduate level.
